It also should at least have a 1-inch gap between the edge of the seat and the backs of your knees, while the seat of the chair should have at least a 1-inch allowance on each side so that it is wider than your hips and thighs when you are seated on it. The chair’s back should also have the right measurements. It should be wide enough for your back although not too wide that it restricts arm movements, like reaching 90 degrees to your sides.
